Our
Projects

Here are some updates on our recent projects.

RED RELIEF

People are not able to afford period products and we want to help! We are now offering free period products in Locations around Southend.

In a survey, 61% of participants said they a struggling to pay for pads for tampons. UK youth parliament heard this problem and wanted to address it on a local level.

With funding from the Southend Health and Wellbeing board we now have free period products in public spaces libraries, museums, and galleries that the Council owns with our brand new red relief scheme.

A big step to help everyone feel safe clean and able to go to school and work, or enjoy their day without worry.

Because everyone deserves dignity. Period.

GET DAYS

This summer Southend Youth Voice worked with members of Southend City Youth Council and Children in Care Council to create 4 action-packed activity days called 'GET DAYS'.

Get Outside, Get Active, Get Safe & Get Calm were all designed in response to Southend's top issues for young people aged 11-18 (as identified by 9,978 young people, in Make Your Mark 2024). These events were a direct response to young people’s request to try something new for a healthy lifestyle and develop skills to keep young people safe in the city. These events are funded by HAF (Holiday Activities & Food).

A total of 82 young people attended the sessions and shared lots of positive feedback. Thanks to all the organisations and professionals who supported us.
