Neurodivergent support pack
This campaign was led by Mable, our former Health & Wellbeing Officer and had the involvement of 18 of our Neurodivergent members.
The Neurodivergent Support Pack is a comprehensive resource created by the Southend City Youth Council to foster understanding and support for Neurodivergent teenagers. It covers various neurological conditions like Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Tic Disorders, and Synaesthesia.

The pack explains each condition, debunks myths, and highlights strengths associated with Neurodivergence. It includes personal stories from Neurodivergent teens, offering insights into daily challenges and coping strategies.
The pack also emphasises the importance of practical support, such as creating calm spaces, preparing for changes, and using self-regulation techniques. Tools like apps for mindfulness and organisation are recommended, alongside tips for teachers, families, and peers to better support Neurodivergent individuals.

A key feature is the "Big Chats" game, which encourages meaningful conversations about Neurodivergence in a fun and engaging way. By promoting awareness and empathy, the pack aims to create a more inclusive environment where Neurodivergent youth feel understood and empowered.
